美國大學在考察申請人的學校成績時，不單只看你取得的分數是A或B，總分GPA是多少，還要將成績與你在高中所選課程的難度程度聯繫起來看。大多數美國高中的課程按難易程度分為普通班（Regular Class)、榮譽班（Honor Class)和AP課程班（Advanced Placement)。國際學校還有IB課程班（International Baccalaureate)。學生不是喜歡上哪種程度的課就可以自己去選上，大部分學校對學生選擇學那種課有一套非常嚴格的規定。學生不僅要成績優秀，老師推薦，還要按學校要求的一定步驟才能被選入榮譽班和AP(IB)課程班學習。

★ 什麼是AP課程

AP課程介紹

AP課程是全稱為『高級課程班』(Advanced Placement)的簡稱，是由美國大學委員(CEEB)會在美國高中設立的一個教育項目，旨在為成績優秀天資聰穎的高中生提供機會，允許他們在高中時期提前選修大學水準的課程。

AP課程通常有教學豐富的教師，根據CEEB制定的教學大綱予以教授，其難度相當於美國大一的基礎課程。AP課程有近40門課程，如微積分、物理、化學、經濟、英文寫作、文學、環境科學、美國政治與政府、美國歷史、歐洲歷史、各種外語......等，課程包括範圍很廣，每個科目課程學習一年。學生可根據學校規定和自身能力選修一門或多門課程。

如果AP課程考試成績好，有可能直接折抵大學學分，這是參加AP課程一個最直接的好處。ETS每年5月份舉行AP考試，7月可得知考試成績，考試成績從1分到5分。大多數大學都已4分以上為好成績，並可給與大學學分(有些學校不予替換)。例如申請人的微積分AP考試成績為5分，如果你所申請的大學承認這個成績，那你在大學一年級時就可以不選這們課程而同樣可以獲得這門課的學分，這樣你就有機會選修其他感興趣的課程學習。AP考試成績被大學承認得越多，獲得的學分就越多，學生就有更多的時間選修大學其他課程，有可能提前完成學業，甚至大學四年可以完成雙學位。

★ 什麼是IB課程

IB課程介紹

IB課程全稱為國際預科證書課程（International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme,簡稱IB課程）。他是由國際文憑組織為高中生設計的一組為期兩年的課程。

IB高中課程是為高中十一和十二年級學生設置的兩年制大學預科課程。IB課程不以世界上任何一個國家的課程體係為基礎而自成一個體系，廣泛吸收了當代許多發達國家主流課程體系的優點，涵蓋了其主要的核心內容。因此IB課程體系即具有與世界各國主流教育課程體系之間的相容性，又有自己教育理念發展下的獨特性。

IB課程體系

IB課程分配在六個基礎學科領域裡，學生既要學習科學科目，又要學習人文科目。所有參加IB文憑項目的學生，必須在這六個學科組中每組選一門課程進行學習。每一門課程又分為高級課程HL(Higher Level)和普通課程SL(Standard Level).所選六門課中，三門必須是高級課程。

• 第一組：語言，學生的母語學習。


• 第二組：語言，母語以外的其他現代語。


• 第三組：人文科學，包括歷史`地理、經濟學、哲學、心理學等。

01）創新、行動和服務（CAS)，此項課程鼓勵學生通過參與學校文體活動、社會活動和作義工，培養他們的同情心和社會責任感，培養團隊合作精神。

02）知識理論（TOK),知識理論是一個跨學科的課程，教導學生在學習時從主觀和客觀、正面和反面等多方位和多層次的角度去思考和分析問題。去反思自己在學校和社會上獲得的知識和經驗，以求在學習中儘快找到適用於自己的學習方法。

03）撰寫論文（An Extended Essay)，IB課程要求學生把自己學習的知識和研究方法結合起來，任選自己有興趣的課程，在輔導老師的指導下，用九個月的時間從事獨立研究。按照大學學術論文的寫作要求，撰寫4000字的研究論文。通過撰寫論文，培養學生的獨立思考能力，蒐集資訊的能力和組織文章的寫作能力等。

IB課程考試規定

學生在完成兩年IB課程學習後，將在高中時二年級的5月份進行IB的最終成績考時，7月份得到考試成績。IB每門的評分等級為1-7分，最高分為7分，4分為及格。加上TOK\CAS課程和論文（這三科成績缺一不可）的獎勵分數3分，滿分45分。學生通過六門課程考試，分數最低必須達到24分。如無不及格的課程，且TOK,CAS和論文成績通過的學生，即可取得IB國際文憑（International Baccalaureate Diploma)

在國際學校開設的IB課程，對於想去美國念大學的學生，IB課程的成績和IB文憑只是美國大學，特別是頂尖大學錄取學生的參考值，不是必要的。申請美國大學還是要有SAT(ACT)成績和託福成績。

▉ 甚麼是《QS世界大學排名》

《QS世界大學排名》（英文：QS World University Rankings）為英國Quacquarelli Symonds發表的年度大學排行榜。QS公司最初與《泰晤士高等教育》增刊合作，兩者於2004-2009年期間聯合發表《泰晤士高等教育-QS世界大學排名》。目前，QS與愛思唯爾合作發布排名，榜單涵蓋世界綜合與學科，另有亞洲、新興歐洲與中亞地區、拉丁美洲、阿拉伯地區、金磚五國共五個持不同準則的地區排名。其獲評為世上最受注目的大學排行榜之一。現今，QS世界大學排名、獨立後的泰晤士高等教育世界大學排名及世界大學學術排名共同被認為是世界三大最具影響力的全球性大學排名。
